Representation

Whenever we begin formal representation on behalf of a client, it is the policy of our firm to make sure that the scope of representation, as well as all financial arrangements between the lawyer and client, are fully understood before work is started so there is no confusion on these matters during the course of representation. Following the recommendation of the Oregon State Bar, our firm uses a formal representation agreement (hourly rate or contingency fee as appropriate) to convey this information to our clients.

The representation agreement provides the billing rates for everyone who may work on your file. Although you will have a primary attorney, there may be times when it is necessary or more cost efficient for another lawyer in the office to assist in handling your matter. Additionally, significant work can be performed on your file by law clerks, paralegals, and legal secretaries. While the majority of a case usually requires your primary attorney's attention, our firm does try to provide our clients with the best possible representation at the least cost by using these other professionals wherever appropriate. Retainers

Retainers in an amount appropriate to the initial charges anticipated are generally required. All retainers are deposited in the firm's Lawyer's Trust Account and transferred at the end of the billing cycle. An additional retainer may be required when the initial retainer has been depleted, dependant on the status of the case at that time.

Communication

Our firm tries to keep our clients as informed as possible at all times. To that end, we will send you copies of all documents we send or receive. We maintain an after-hours answering service for telephone messages, which we return as soon as possible. We also use e-mail to serve our clients with internet access. Current Standard Hourly Rates
